Overview

This leaflet is a rare and valuable artefact of the colonial period in Samoa which relates to New Zealand's efforts to suppress the Mau 'rebellion' by armed force and the threat of force. The Mau a Pule was a Samoan resistance movement started during the German administration of Samoa. Its activity dwindled for a period during the early years of the New Zealand administration but in 1926 a new movement simply called Mau was established with the same resistance objectives.

English translation: To All of Samoa

Nelson has now withdrawn his pledge/statements which he sent to the "Herald" newspaper, and he will be repaying any monies owed to the newspaper in regards to this matter.

The chosen witnesses have returned to Samoa

The reason for this is because:

1. The search is now finished and complete.

2. Monies donated/given to the Mau has been a waste of time

3. The Mau has been deceived by false statements/wrong information.
