Overview

These silver chopsticks are engraved with the name Ah Chee - a well-known Chinese family in Auckland. The chopsticks were probably made locally, as there is no maker's mark on them, and may have been given as a wedding present.

A silver serving
Silver chopsticks were traditionally used by wealthy Chinese. It was believed that the silver would change colour if their food had been poisoned.
