George Leslie Adkin diary entry Monday 2 October 1916

Topic

Overview

Mon. Oct. 2.

Father, George + I rode up to South Block - mustered the 135 ewes on Terraces + docked 105 lambs. After dinner we rode over to Sonoma - found Top p[addock] very bare indeed, so opened all gates into 1000 ac[re] p[addock]. Mustered steers in Top + 100 ac[re] p]addock] + later in Leighton p[addock], all but one which we could not find. Put them (49 in number) in Ram p[addock] + drafted out 25 best + oldest for sale tomorrow week + put them on Mill p[addock] - put the rest (24) on 100 ac[re] p[addock]. Father + [page break] George assisted me with a big slab of rata for a bridge over stream at foot of Combine Spur + also with strainers for little gate into Leighton p[addock]. Made some preparation for my docking before going home.
