Diary of George Leslie Adkin, May 1916

Topic

Overview

Leslie Adkin is a farmer in the Horowhenua region, and manages two properties near Levin. He also works with his brothers Gilbert and Clifford, his father William, and their labourer George Bloomfield on the family farm, Cheslyn Rise. Farming activities this month include fencing, sowing grass, mustering, crutching, dipping, and attending stock sales.

Having recently moved into their new home, Leslie and his wife Maud spend many evenings entertaining their family members and neighbours. In their spare time, they enjoy reading and attending church.

Towards the end of the month one of Leslie's teeth breaks 'clean off,' and he has a 'very rough time' getting it re-crowned.
